Our service in action
Recent projects include:
The regional experience of people with long term conditions, and their experience of self-care
Feedback was gathered on behalf of the Welsh Assembly on the healthcare experiences of people with long term conditions in Wales. The survey included a patient activation measure (PAM) to analyse how engaged patients are in self-care. It involved telephone interviews with 6,600 people - 300 respondents from each of the 22 local health boards. A follow up survey will take place in 2009-10.
Using NHS Direct
On behalf of NHS Direct telephone interviews were conducted with 1,200 members of the public who had recently used the service. The survey asked NHS Direct users about other health services they had contacted both before and after calling NHS Direct as well as a range of questions on other elements of the service.Examining the experience of private patients
A postal survey of patients is currently underway for Wimbledon Clinics, a private clinic specialising in sports injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders, to gather information on the experiences of their patients and to inform service improvements both, locally and across their whole service.
Surveying cancer patients for the North London Cancer Network
The North London Cancer Network and Macmillan Cancer Support commissioned Picker Institute Europe to carry out a survey of cancer patients involving seven NHS acute hospital trusts. The survey examined issues including the patient experience of diagnosis, outpatient appointments, discharge and follow up care.
