History and key documents
The Health and Social Care Bill 2007 and other documents that describe the Bill's progress through Parliament, including Bill drafts, records of Commons' and Lords' Reading and Committee debates and the amendment papers, are all available on the parliament UK website.
Picker Institute Europe documents
Much of Picker Institute Europe's work to amend the Health and Social Care Bill involved meetings and negotiations with other organisations, Parliamentarians and members of the Department of Health team responsible for drafting the Bill. We also produced three briefing documents to inform Parliamentary debates:
- Picker Institute Europe
statement to the House of Commons Public Bill Committee
- Picker Institute Europe
parliamentary briefing to inform the House of Commons 2nd Reading debate
- Picker Institute Europe
briefing to the House of Lords to inform the Lords 2nd Reading debate.
2006: Preliminary consultation
From November 2006 to February 2007 the Department of Health ran a consultation on The Future Regulation of Health and Adult Social Care in England.
The government published its formal response to the consultation in October 2007.
